A familiar-looking figure flagged me down as I drove past John
Lucas Park the other day.
It was Bag-Head Jheri, the Messanie Street philosopher.
I hit the curb.
"Boy, crooks must be getting younger and younger every day," Bag
said while looking through the park fence. "I nevah seen playground
equipment in a prison before."
"This is John Lucas Park, and that's the playground," I said.
"Oh yeah, well I ain't been around for awhile. I had to go back
home to Carolina for a minute to check on my weoples," he said.
"I hope everything is OK back home, Bag," I said.
"Oh everythang is everythang, and it's all good back in da' hood
