Article: Theatre Atchison takes on 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Surely, you've heard of a fool in love.

So Shakespeare's classic "A Midsummer Night's Dream," exploring the way emotions color perceptions, isn't news.

But with mischievous, acrobatic fairies and love-struck characters lost in a circus setting in the 1920s, Theatre Atchison's production, which opens Friday, Nov. 7, certainly should be fun.

"It's also just a wonderful, wonderful love story," says Kurt Schlanker, who plays the egocentric character Bottom.

But comedy reigns in this play, and with a new setting and era, Theatre Atchison challenges people's stereotypes about Shakespeare's plays.
