Article: 70 members of 139th Airlift Wing will be deactivated, commander says

About 70 members of the local Missouri Air National Guard unit will be deactivated in a month.

It's part of a move to prevent undo hardships on personnel and meet continually fluctuating military requirements.

"Every unit has people activated to serve who, as civilians, worked for really small businesses and who really need to get back to those civilian jobs," said Col. Stephen Cotter, commander of the 139th Airlift Wing stationed at Rosecrans Memorial Airport. "The intent of this deactivation is to get people back to their jobs."
