Seeing former Enron chairman Kenneth Lay back in the news reminded
me of a fashion question: What suit do you wear with handcuffs?
During the frenzy of a couple of years ago, when making white-
collar scoundrels do a perp walk was all the rage, gentlemen in
corporate board rooms hired consultants to advise them on
surrendering to the FBI.
Specifically, have a tailor bring up the sleeves and leave the
belt at home.
The belt thing might be overkill since it seems unlikely Mr. Lay
would hang himself in a cell over an indictment, which is merely a
legal annoyance. Fraud, schmaud. Here's the half-million for bail.
