Dr. Ed Gorsky began a career at Missouri Western State College as
the head of a department that consisted of himself and a secretary.
Today the Division of Continuing Education and Special Programs
employs 55 people. The annual budget for the department has grown
from $37,000 per year to as high as $5 million.
But after 18 years at Western, Dr. Gorsky's office walls are bare
of the certificates, awards and pictures that once adorned them.
Boxes full of his belongs have been carted away and he sits behind an
empty desk, reflecting on his years at Western and the ensuing
retirement.
