WASHINGTON - If it's true that laughter is the best medicine, then
a heaping dose of humor might be just what the doctor ordered to
combat the serious health risks secondhand smoke poses to children.
Titled "Don't Pass Gas," a lighthearted radio and TV public
service ad campaign will debut next week to educate Americans about
the dangers of secondhand smoke. It's meant to motivate people into
creating smoke-free environments for their families.
The nationwide multimedia campaign is the first national
advertising effort to address the health hazards of secondhand smoke,
according to one of the sponsors, the American Legacy Foundation,
which was created under the federal tobacco settlement.
