Enlisted personnel at the 139th Airlift Wing got a chance to
hobnob Friday with an elite enlisted man.
Command Chief Master Sgt. Dick Smith, the senior enlisted man for
the entire Air National Guard, was visiting Rosecrans Memorial
Airport as part of a two-day informal inspection.
Mr. Smith reports directly to Lt. Gen. Daniel James, the commander
of the Air National Guard. He is the general's eyes and ears with
enlisted personnel.
"This is where the guard mission happens - at bases like this,"
Mr. Smith said.
"I hope the can-do attitude of this unit gets filtered back to Lt.
Gen. James," said Col. Stephen Cotter, commander of the 139th Airlift
Wing.
