Article: Wire Rope to acquire competitor

Wire Rope Corporation of America has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire a competing manufacturer in Mexico.

Wire Rope, based in St. Joseph, agreed to buy Aceros Camesa, S.A. de C.V. and Camesa Inc. from Grupo Industrial Camesa of Mexico.

Camesa, with more than 500 employees, operates a wire mill and a rope mill in Mexico as well as a distribution center in Lima, Peru. The company also manages two facilities in Rosenberg, Texas, just outside of Houston.

All of those operations are part of the proposed transaction, including facilities in Texas that produce wire rope under the AWARCO brand. The proposed deal is scheduled to close by June 30.
