The Profit in Education program is credited with helping lower St.
Joseph's high school dropout rate during the last decade of the 20th
century.
Now, a new initiative seeks to prepare St. Joseph's work force for
the demands of a 21st century economy that will require more than a
high school diploma.
"There is a definite need, because of the global economy, to
continue learning beyond high school," said Brad Lau, vice president
of community development for the St. Joseph Area Chamber of Commerce.
"This program truly is a lifelong learning partnership. Education
increases your quality of life and opens opportunities."
