The public is invited to attend a free organ concert today to
dedicate a rebuilt and enlarged pipe organ at First Baptist Church,
13th and Francis streets.
Canadian Ken Cowan, solo concert recitalist and recording artist,
will play the inaugural recital on the new Quimby pipe organ at 4
p.m. today. Mr. Cowan earned a bachelor's degree in music from the
Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and a master's degree from
the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Mr. Cowan has been featured
repeatedly on American Public Media's weekly program "Pipedreams." In
2003, he performed a recital during a convention for the American
Guild of Organists in St. Joseph.
