Q. My cat Kelli has what appears to be dandruff. She is a black
cat, so it really shows up on her. She is not itchy, and I don't see
any fleas on her. Should I be concerned? Is there anything I can do
for her?
A. Dandruff is basically a collection of dead skin cells. It
occurs because of an abnormality in keratinization (the process of
replacing dead skin cells). However, it usually is not harmful or a
sign of any specific disease.
Having said that, I recommend seeing your doctor for the problem.
There are diseases that can cause excess skin flaking. Various
