"I like Granny Smith Apples. Those are the crisp, green kind that
seem to be available - and good - all year around. However, I don't
like to ask for them by name. 'Granny Smith' sounds too cutesy-poo.
Apples should have straightforward, dignified names - Jonathan or
Winesap or McIntosh or Northern Spy. Even Red (or Yellow) Delicious
is all right, though the 'delicious' part tends toward the precious."
