Article: EVENT: 'Freaks, Geeks and Carnies' photo show offers a glimpse of Coney Island past

SIAMESE twins. Bathing beauties. The Albino Man. The Fat Lady.

These characters and more star in "Freaks, Geeks and Carnies: Early 20th-Century Photographs of Coney Island," a Museum in the Community exhibit opening Wednesday.

The exhibit, loaned by Donald Joint and Brice Brown of Milton, Pa., depicts Coney Island in its glory days before the Depression, when people of all ages flocked to the seaside entertainment complex in Brooklyn, N.Y.

There they braved roller coasters, "The Whip" and other rides; glimpsed human oddities in the freak show; took in scientific and cultural exhibits; and caught rays on the nearby beach.
