SHOOTING STRAIGHT: Natural resources, youth our state's greatest resources

West Virginia has always relied on its people, the land and our natural resources to survive.

In the early days, we used timber, coal, oil, natural gas, our streams and even our soil to create industries. Recently some of these have changed and many people have lost jobs or careers as innovation, better equipment and computers make these industries easier to do with less manpower.

With droves of people coming to West Virginia to ride our whitewater, fish our streams and lakes, hunt our fields and forests, ski our mountains, mountain bike our trails, camp and hike in our mountains, and photograph our fall colors, we are now the nation's playground.
