Jerry Mezzatesta's boss calls him a "workaholic," someone who
works 16 hours a day and deserves every penny of his $60,000-a-year
salary.
But Hampshire County Schools Superintendent David Friend produced
little written evidence of Mezzatesta's work last week.
Over the past four years, Mezzatesta, D-Hampshire, sent out six
letters - all form letters - on behalf of the school system,
according to Friend's response to a Sunday Gazette-Mail request for
Mezzatesta's correspondence.
Among Mezzatesta's job duties since 1999, when he was hired as a
"community specialist": "disseminate information," "supervise adult
and community education programs," "write grant proposals," ...
