COLUMBIA, S.C. - You won't hear parishioners at South Carolina's
Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church describing the Holy Trinity as
"Mother, Child and Womb" or even "Rock, Redeemer, Friend."
The classical, familiar "Father, Son and Holy Spirit," will do
just fine to define the Godhead, the Rev. Leslie Holmes says.
"We're going to stick with the Scripture," says Holmes, senior
pastor of the Lexington County, S.C., congregation. "We are going to
stay with the traditional view that the church has used down through
the centuries."
Delegates to a meeting earlier this summer of the Presbyterian
