Step back in time by paying a visit to a railway which operates
locomotives which ran more than half-a-century ago.
The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, based at Ludborough, south of
Grimsby, is the only standard gauge steam railway in Lincolnshire
open to the public, and will be open again on Saturday and Sunday,
September 8 and 9, from 9am to 4pm, for its 1940s weekend. The East
Lincolnshire Railway ran between Boston and Grimsby, via Firsby,
Willoughby and Louth, opening in 1848.
Sadly, the Louth to Grimsby section of the line closed in 1980.
But enthusiasts are returning part of the line to its former
glory.
