A Sighting of Clark Gable in Scunthorpe, featured in our column on
Monday, June 18, has been viewed with scepticism by a local
historian.
The sighting was recalled by Jessie Grant (nee Burgess) of
Horncastle Road, Woodhall Spa, who formerly lived in Whitton.
She said she almost literally bumped into Clark Gable after she
had been watching him in Gone with the Wind at the Ritz Cinema in
Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe.
"I knew for a fact it was him because I had seen him before in so
many things. At the time I was in the forces and met quite a few
celebrities," she recalled.
