Allergies have made the headlines recently following reports that
the number of us suffering from serious reactions has risen by 25 per
cent over the last four years.
The difficulty, however, is that the figure, submitted by the
Department of Health, only focuses on those people who have had their
allergy recognised by a doctor or specialist.
Muriel Simmons, chief executive at Allergy UK says "The statistics
of such reports are only based on people who have had their symptoms
professionally recognised.
"There are a lot of people, such as hay fever sufferers, who
dismiss their allergies as insignificant, and as a result, can often
be getting the wrong medication because they choose to buy ...
