A Scunthorpe man is celebrating 40 years working for the National
Health Service.
Ralph Roberts (56) of Bottesford, works as a modern matron at
Scunthorpe General Hospital and clocked up 40 years with the NHS on
September 1.
He has been at Scunthorpe General for six years and before that
was at Grimsby's Diana Princess of Wales Hospital.
Mr Roberts started his cadet training on September 1 1967 at
Scunthorpe and was accepted to do his nurse training in 1969. He
qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1972 and took up a post as
a staff nurse on the male orthopaedic ward, where he stayed for three
years.
In 1975 Mr Roberts, who has lived in Scunthorpe throughout his
