So it's farewell, then, to the audio cassette tape, the device
that introduced us all to music on the move. But DEBBIE RUNDLE, who
has many reasons to bless its invention, says it will be like
saying a last goodbye to an old and much-loved friend
The demise of the cassette tape is a blow for all of us in the
generation of "baby- boomers". We grew up with the things, courted
all sorts of unsuitable paramours to their sounds, and brought our
own children up on them.
But the tape is being consigned to the dustbin as electronic giant
Curry's pushes the eject button. The High Street chain has announced
that cassettes have had their day and they will no longer be sold in
its stores.
