Region overtakes the South East for output and jobs

The South West economy kept pole position among the UK regions in June, outperforming all other areas in output and employment growth.

This was among key findings in Royal Bank of Scotland's latest PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) Report.

Private sector output in the South West continued to rise at a marked rate despite easing from May's record pace.

The seasonally-adjusted business activity index was strong at 59.5. Though this was the second-lowest figure of the year it is still well above the long-run average of 54.5 and that of the UK (57.5).
