Deal-making may be strong in the region but this year a dearth of
public-to-private deals kept the overall value of the market down
Leading players across the corporate finance market in the South
West say the past year has been "incredibly buoyant" - and expect
the deal flow to stay strong in the 12 months ahead despite the
ongoing upheaval caused by the so-called credit crunch.
The keenness of banks to lend, coupled with a strong flow of
business opportunities, has led to confidence across the region's
economy that advisers believe is set to stay strong, despite the
doubts fostered by tightening on lending that came in response to bad
debts in the US sub-prime mortgage market.
