Prices for better-known 1960s collectible muscle cars, such as Pontiac GTOs, have soared beyond reach of many older baby boomers, who owned or coveted such cars in that hot car decade.

But prices for many solid second-tier muscle cars, such as the 1969 Mercury Marauder, are reasonable. Models such as that Marauder are downright steals--and can head nowhere but up as far as price is concerned.

Even the top line 1969 Marauder X-100 coupe with a big 429-cubic- inch, 360 horsepower V-8 is only valued at $7,600. In contrast, a 1969 Pontiac GTO "Judge" coupe is valued at $25,575. Not to mix apples and oranges, but the lowest-priced 2003 car is an economy model that costs $9,445.
