Naperville Central's Pat Tumilty, one of the area's top left-
handed hitters, nailed the biggest hit of his career Thursday.
His one-out, game-winning double to left-center field off left-
handed Benet ace Marc Lewis scored Ryan Pollard from first base for a
6-5, nine-inning Redhawks' victory in a Lyons Sectional semifinal.
The drive capped a stirring comeback from a 5-0 deficit after five
innings against Benet right-hander Doug Eldridge, who had no-hit the
Redhawks through four.
Marc's a friend from being a teammate on our summer traveling
team, so I sort of knew what to expect," Tumilty said after Lewis,
who had thrown 145 pitches Monday, had replaced Eldridge in the
seventh.
