Article: Rowand to ditch passive approach

DETROIT--Like a dog chasing his tail, Aaron Rowand is not getting anywhere.

Growing impatient with trying to be patient at the plate, Rowand plans to use a different mind-set when he returns to the lineup this week as the Kansas City Royals visit the White Sox.

It might not happen until Wednesday, though. Armando Rios started in center field Sunday and White Sox manager Jerry Manuel said he likely will do the same Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series.

Rowand is hitting .188 and at times has looked overmatched when batting with two strikes.
