Gunfire erupted again Monday in Maywood--not far from where seven
people were wounded last week--forcing weary residents to once again
confront violence on their streets.
"What the hell is going on?" said Darlene Wilson, who lives near
21st Avenue and St. Charles Road. "When we grew up, everybody worked
together to keep the block clean. We have a lot of kids here. We have
to work together because all they're seeing is killing, shooting and
high-speed chases."
The latest shooting was by a Maywood police officer after a chase.
The police department released few details. Police spokesman Brian
Black would only say there had been a police-related shooting and a
gun not belonging to police was ...
