Article: New Sony game console to offer DVD recorder

Hoping to reverse lower-than-expected first-quarter earnings, which caused its stock to tumble, Sony Corp. Wednesday unveiled the latest entry into the video game console market, the PSX.

Expected on Japanese store shelves by the end of the year, the PSX is essentially a revamped PlayStation 2 video game console that will continue to play games and support accessories made for PS2. Several new enhancements will set the unit apart from previous consoles made by the Japanese electronics and entertainment giant, though. The PSX will feature broadband, a DVD recorder, a 120-gigabyte hard drive and a TV tuner built in.
