HAVE WE not read, seen and heard enough about the pernicious
Segway motorized scooter already without your front-page spread
touting it ["Sarasota by Segway," Jan. 11
]? The folks in your photo
all appear healthy enough to walk or ride a bike, so why do they need
a high-priced, high-tech excuse to not walk, exercise, ride a bike or
take public transit? Two people cannot hold a conversation while on
Segways without going side by side and becoming even more dangerous.
Adding Segways to our sidewalks and communities is bad for a
variety of reasons, but putting them on sidewalks and paths threatens
walkers. Please write about travel and touring by walking and leave
