At age 12, Chris Botti knew exactly what he wanted to be when he
grew up.
"I was completely dedicated to making a living one day as a jazz
trumpeter," Botti said during a phone conversation from his Los
Angeles hotel room. "I knew I wanted to live in New York City and
play jazz."
He's made all that happen and then some. At 40, Botti, who is
releasing his fifth solo album, "A Thousand Kisses Deep"--due out
Sept. 30--is changing the landscape of jazz with his sensual,
contemporary stylings as well as nontraditional rhythms and eclectic ...
