Article: Jack Tucker, longtime columnist, dies at age 93

On stage, in print or in person, Jack Tucker was a consummate storyteller.

But that is only part of the tale of a remarkable man who adapted an old-fashioned, genteel manner and humor to the modern world.

Tucker, a beloved figure in the Contra Costa community theater and journalism circles, died early Thursday morning at age 93. And true to his nature, he remained active in the pursuits he loved until he suffered a massive stroke Dec. 19 and was moved into hospice care.

"It was all very peaceful," said his wife, Gail Morrison. "As usual, he defied every expectation. The doctors didn't expect him to be here yesterday."
