A plan to auction the state's dormant 10th casino license in U.S.
Bankruptcy Court won approval from the Illinois Gaming Board on
Monday, but gambling regulators declined to comment about whether the
proposal will work.
"We have no opinion," interim board Administrator Jeannette Tamayo
said. "The board voted. It rendered its decision. We will now move
forward."
The reaction wasn't surprising because the board in May thought it
had struck a deal to end the saga between the state and Emerald
Casino Inc. The company had seemed certain to build a gambling barge
in Rosemont until the board rejected its proposal in January 2001.
