Article: Cuts could affect Hancock County drug task force

ELLSWORTH - In its more than three years of existence, the Hancock County Drug Task Force has gone from being entirely funded by local taxpayers to using state money and drug forfeitures to cut costs by two-thirds.

Last week's announcement that the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency will lose 75 percent of its federal funding could cripple the small Hancock County unit tasked to disrupt the drug trade Down East.
