Development chief prescribed for Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH - A new economic development strategy released this week challenged Ellsworth to diversify its economy by harnessing "shovel-ready" land, investing in telecommunications infrastructure and promoting the city as more than just a retail destination.

The report, prepared by Eaton Peabody Consulting Group, also said the city can no longer afford to go without a full-time economic development director.
