The Oregon Legislature's already okayed expanding the state's
Bottle Bill to water and flavored water containers. But work's just
beginning for the task force that'll explore further changes to the
1971 landmark legislation.
"There's more to the issue than just picking up the can and
taking it back to the store," said John Kopetski, the Pendleton
financial adviser who heads the Bottle Bill Task Force.
Defining "flavored" water, retailers say, should be a big part of
the process. Senate Bill 707, which passed in May, adds redemption
value to bottled and flavored water containers, but doesn't detail
what is and isn't a flavored water.
