Sunday's Super Bowl on CBS officially goes in the books as the
sixth most watched in the game's 38-year history.
The thriller, in which the New England Patriots pulled out a 32-
29 victory over the Carolina Panthers, clocked 89.8 million viewers.
It was the highest-rated Super Bowl since the 1998 matchup between
the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos, which drew 90 million.
The game led CBS to an easy win in the weekly Nielsen race,
breaking Fox's two-week winning streak. CBS averaged 25.3 million
total viewers to Fox's 9.8 million and NBC's 9.4 million. ABC was a
distant fourth with 7.9 million.
