It's never too early to send a message.
And for all intents and purposes, that's what the Marquette
Golden Eagles' 96-67 victory over the Providence Friars in the
teams' Big East opener at the Bradley Center delivered to the rest
of the league Thursday night.
Playing with the energy and intensity befitting their No. 10
ranking, the Golden Eagles looked every bit the part of contender
for the Big East title by systematically dismantling a short-handed
but nevertheless dangerous Friars squad.
