The future of the sterile services unit, which decontaminates all surgical instrument kits for Torbay's hospitals, GPs and dentists, has been threatened since Torbay Hospital joined a consortium of four hospitals across the South West to investigate a proposal to move the service to regional super centres in Taunton and Dorset.
