Half of Dutch want Queen's role in government merely ceremonial:
poll
BRUSSELS, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Half of the Dutch public believe the
Dutch royal family should fulfill a purely ceremonial role andthat
the Queen should not be allowed to exert any influence over the
government, Dutch paper Algemeen Dagblad reported Monday.
The figures are the result of a poll is was revealed by a poll
carried out by the Maurice de Hond agency, published on Sunday, the
paper said.
In April 2007 only 41 percent of Dutch people expressed their
hope that the Queen would only perform ceremonial duties.
The poll showed that 46 percent of respondents want the Queen to
continue in her present role as official head ...
