Back in 2003 when Krispy Kreme Doughnut arrived in Evansville,
some area residents worried the large chain would hurt the local
family owned Kempf's Donut Bank Bakery & Coffee Shop.
But that didn't happen. Instead, the Donut Bank today is going
stronger than ever - with a sixth Evansville location under
construction at U.S. 41 and Lincoln Avenue and a new operation
planned for Princeton, Ind., some 25 miles north down the highway.
The Donut Bank also has a location in Newburgh.
Chris Kempf, president of the company, revealed plans Thursday
for the Princeton store.
He said his company is leasing a former Arby's restaurant
building at 1209 W. Broadway.
