Article: Neponset River plan to be unveiled

CANTON - Plans to restore the Lower Mills section of the Neponset River will be unveiled Wednesday night at St. Gregory's School in Dorchester.

The restoration, estimated to cost $7 million to $9 million, would include the cleanup of toxic chemical waste and the possible removal of two dams that would return the river to its natural flow.

Beginning in Foxboro, the Neponset River runs 17 miles through 14 towns including Quincy, Milton, Canton, Sharon and Westwood.

The restoration project would target a 5-mile stretch in Milton, Hyde Park, Mattapan and part of Dorchester.
