Article: Charleston Daily Mail Neediest Cases fund exceeds $130,000

The Daily Mail's Neediest Cases Appeal closed out the 2007 fundraising effort with an impressive $130,201.80 raised.

The appeal has been topping the $100,000 mark since 1987 and has raised as much as $140,000, the mark it achieved in 2006.

Most impressive is the overall total raised by the campaign since it began in 1961. From that first year, when the campaign raised $5,570.01, the Neediest Cases Appeal has raised a total of $3.42 million.

Thanks to generous Daily Mail readers, the fund already has helped the cases published in the paper each day from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve.
