Dartmouth is demanding a say over any move to axe plans for a
pounds1million new town police station - amid fears that the town
could end up being policed from as far away as Totnes or
Kingsbridge.
Talks about building a new police station for the town to replace
the old 1960s nick in the heart of the riverside town have been
going on for at last five years.
The police authority still has pounds650,000 for a new police
station costing between pounds500,000 to pounds1million built into
its capital programme for 2009-10.
But police bosses are now going through the process of
reassessing the programme and Dartmouth councillors fear that not
only could the new police station plans be dropped but ...
