An array of seating is available in Bonhams, Honiton, sale on
Friday, ranging from 19th century French settees to mahogany tub
armchairs and a set of eight 20th century Eastern dining chairs in
hardwood. These are in the Hepplewhite manner, comprising two
carvers and six singles, with upholstered drop-in seats above sabre
legs to the front.
At 21.5in (55cm) wide, they should attract pounds150-pounds250
and may suit the 20th century twin pedestal dining table with tilt
tops that extends to 86.6in (220cm), at pounds80-pounds120. On
second thoughts, perhaps the set of six early 19th century mahogany
dining chairs, with trellis rail backs and stuffover seats above
turned legs, would be better.
