At this time of year, with a bit of chill still in the air, most
people would opt to head to California rather than Portland, Maine.
Not Hamden's Jeff Natale.
Natale, the Boston Red Sox's second-base prospect, got some great
news on Friday when he learned he'd be breaking spring training camp
with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, rather than the Class A
Lancaster (Calif.) JetHawks.
"I'm absolutely thrilled," Natale said. "I finished up at high-A
last year and thought I had a good overall year, and the next step
would have been Double-A. So I'm pretty happy about the news."
To say Natale had a "good overall year" last season is a big
