A paignton mum has launched her own battle to honour the Land
Army girls who struggled to feed Britain throughout the Second World
War.
The Government recently announced that it is producing a medal or
badge for the members of the Women's Land Army who volunteered to
work on the nation's farms and fields to replace the men who had
gone off to war.
Most of the women Land Army 'veterans' signed up more than 60
years ago and are now in their 70s or 80s, explained Louise
Spencer.
And she fears that many of them do not even know about their
'war' medal.

Army girls as she can and sending them up to the Government so they
