There is no question that Dennis Richmond -- solid, poised,
stylish, professional, muscular Dennis -- is the Bay Area's Walter
Cronkite.

Richmond has been KTVU's news anchor since 1976. Thirty-two years
as an anchor at one station is virtually unheard of in the
disposable world of television, which drops anchors as often as sea
captains.
Only Dave McElhatton, who put in 23 years as KPIX's anchor, has
come close to matching Richmond's staying power in this area. And
only Uncle Walter comes to mind on
a national scale, though his CBS run lasted 20 years.
