Glaus willing to bat fourth ; behind Pujols

ST. LOUIS - For Troy Glaus, it's better late than never.

Glaus long ago told his mother that he would one day play third base for the St. Louis Cardinals. A trade from Toronto nearly two weeks ago ensured that will happen.

But Glaus' longtime friends from his years with the then-Anaheim Angels no longer call St. Louis their home. Center fielder Jim Edmonds was traded to San Diego. Shortstop David Eckstein signed a free-agent deal with Toronto. Reliever Troy Percival did the same, landing in Tampa Bay.

"Those guys have been my friends for a long time," Glaus said last week during the Cardinals' 12th annual Winter Warm-Up at the downtown Millennium Hotel.
