Cranford cranked up the title race in Division 1 of the Exeter &
District mixed league by beating reigning champions Exeter 5-4 -
after inflicting a first home defeat of the season on Queen's
Crediton.
Their 6-3 victory at Queen's owed much to reserves Jamie Roberton
and former England star Suzanne Louis, with the Cranford pair well
supported by Tom Rowley and Claire Hannah, who were also unbeaten.
Exeter's inability to field a full team against Cranford cost
them dear and it was left to top pair Terry Parker and Julia
Williams (3) to carry the fight with a point from David Spencer and
Sandra Lear.
It was all very tight but it was to go Cranford's way.
