State Attorney General Tom Corbett on Thursday filed a consumer
protection lawsuit against a national weight-loss chain and its
owner, alleging deceptive business practices at the company that
abruptly closed Jan. 4.
The lawsuit accuses Pure Weight Loss Inc., formerly known as L.A.
Weight Loss Centers Inc., and company owner Vahan Karian, who goes
by the name Vahan Karabajakian, of deceptive marketing and sales of
long-term contracts for weight loss supplements, prepackaged food
and weight loss counseling services.
Locations in the Pittsburgh area are at 513 Town Square Way, 1746
Washington Road and on McKnight Road. Other outlets are located in
